Have you ever forgotten your why?
We all start with a reason, a moment, a story, a fire that pushes us forward. But over time, that why, once burning brightly, it can fade quietly into the background.
That was me.
One day, while sitting with my mum and sharing a project I was working on, she gently reminded me of my why. And just like that, the emotions came flooding back.

💭 Back to the Beginning
For me, my why goes back to when I was 14 years old. At that age, I thought mental health was something only adults dealt with. I couldn’t have been more wrong.
My best friend was battling depression. It escalated to self-harm and, eventually, three suicide attempts on school grounds. I had no idea what the signs were. I didn’t know how to help. I had to learn the hard way.
Eventually, I became the one who spoke up, the one who reported her, pushed to get her help, even when it meant she hated me for it. It cost us our friendship. For years, all I held onto was one truth: at least she was alive.
And then, five months ago, she thanked me.
That moment reminded me of the 14-year-old me who longed to hear those words but never thought she would. It reignited my why with a force I hadn’t felt in years: To show those who may never get their thank you that it’s still worth it.

Here’s the lesson: the why matters, but the feelings behind it matter more.
A reason is just a fact. Emotion is the driver.
Yet too often, we’re told:
“Don’t bring emotions into the room.”In business. In leadership. In law. In policy. Leave them at the door.

But this is where we fail.
✏️ Policy without emotion is paperwork.
✏️ Business without emotion is profit without purpose.
✏️ Leadership without emotion is power without people.
It’s emotion that breathes life into ideas. Emotion that turns a why into a movement. Emotion that sustains us when the work gets hard.
