Systemic advocacy, powered by lived experience and faith-rooted ethics, championing policy reform in disability, youth, mental health & regional equity for all Australians.

🌉 Stepping Onto the Bridge

Before attending the National Leadership Forum (NLF), I found myself at a standstill. Life had been overwhelming, three hectic months after my wedding, pausing one degree while beginning another, and quietly wrestling with imposter syndrome that, at times, made me question if I should keep going.

Then, I walked into the Forum.

Over four days, surrounded by leaders and changemakers from across Australia, I heard words that stirred something deep within me. They didn’t just inspire me, they reignited my fire.

📝 What This Post Covers

  • A personal turning point from burnout to renewed purpose

  • Key lessons from the National Leadership Forum that reshaped my approach

  • How small, deliberate shifts can create lasting change

Words That Woke Me Up

The Forum was filled with powerful ideas and honest conversations. But a series of simple, clear messages resonated in a way that felt both grounding and energising:

  • ✅ Say yes to opportunities. Don’t overthink, lean in.

  • 🗣 Your voice has power. Change doesn’t happen if you stay silent.

  • 🤝 We are stronger together. Find people who share your passion.

  • 🧠 Value trusted voices, not the noise of the crowd.

  • 💯 Sometimes 95% isn’t enough. That last 5% makes the difference.

  • 🪜 Embrace failures and “no’s.” They’re not dead ends, but stepping stones.

  • ❤️ Do what you love. Seize the day and don’t let anyone stop you.

  • 🙏 Show gratitude and respect for everyone. Stand up for what matters.

  • 🦁 Be brave. Be willing to create change in any way you can.

  • ✍️ Mistakes matter: not as setbacks, but as lessons.

  • 🧭 Be a leader, even a contrarian, when needed.

  • 🧶 Every small act is a stitch in the tapestry of social change.

  • ⚖️ Balance matters. A knife sharpened too much blunts.

  • 🚫 Don’t be a prisoner to others’ opinions.

  • 🕊 Purpose, not money, is the foundation.

  • 🌿 Don’t silo your thinking. Stay open. Keep learning.

  • 🔥 Passion carries you through challenges.

These words reminded me why I do what I do: because I want to help build a better future for everyone. They challenged me to put that final 5% back in, to embrace rejection as redirection, and to lead with authenticity, raw, unfiltered, and courageous.

🌍 Reigniting My Purpose

In the weeks since, I’ve felt a noticeable shift. I’m leaning into being trauma-informed, thinking critically, speaking up even when it’s uncomfortable, and refusing to silence my voice.

These lessons reminded me that leadership isn’t about perfection or constant forward momentum; it’s about remembering why you started, showing up fully, and recommitting to the work when you feel stuck.

Each of us is laying bricks. Every small action is part of a much larger tapestry of social change. And when we stand together, the impact is powerful.

💡 Bridge Notes: Key Takeaways

  • Even in seasons of standstill, inspiration can spark renewed momentum.

  • Leadership often means returning to foundational truths, not reinventing them.

  • Community, courage, and clarity are fuel for meaningful change.

  • Passion and purpose are what sustain you through challenges.

  • Small, intentional acts contribute to the bigger picture of impact.

🌍 Your Invitation to Reflect and Act

If you’ve felt stuck or uninspired lately, you’re not alone. Take time to pause, listen, and let powerful words, whether from others or from within, remind you of your “why.”

Lean into the extra 5%. Say yes. Speak up. Choose passion over fear. Your brick matters in the tapestry we’re building together.
